Christian Education Department
The Department of Christian Education is responsible for “Developing standards, preparing programs, offering classes, teaching Christian education, publishing material, training people for pastoral ministry and other church vocations” in accordance with the tradition and doctrine of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Our Focus
As stated by the CED Executive Director Rev. Garland F. Pierce, the Department of Christian Education of the AME Church is “responsible for resourcing this global denomination for faith formation and leadership development throughout the lifespan for faithful and effective discipleship. As the Ephesian Epistle speaks of the variety of gifts and callings, it is through the variety of ministries, which make up the Department of Christian Education that the teaching ministry of the church is carried out.
The Department of Christian Education is currently focused on its own 3 R’s of Christian Education: Resourcing, Researching, and Renewal.”
General Activities
There are many other ministries which are a part of the Department of Christian Education: Association of AME Scouts (AAMES), Christian Debutante Master Commission (CDMC), Fellowship of Church Educators (FCE), Music and Christian Arts Ministry (MCAM), Richard Allen Young Adult Council (RAYAC), Sons of Allen (SoA) and Sunday School.
We aim to find those who want to be an active part of our teaching and learning community, which is designed to aid in equipping the saints for the work of ministry, for building up of the body of Christ.
