Reverend Doctor Michael L. Martin

The Rev. Dr. Michael L. Martin was born in Hampton, VA, and raised in Selma, Alabama.

He is a widower and has 4 children, 3 deceased and he has 4 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Dr. Martin’s home church was Brown Chapel AME Church, Selma, AL where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Right Movement met and planned their strategies. Dr. Martin was an active YPDer and served as Assistant Program Director and Choreographer of all plays presented by the youth. He also was a “Youth Civil Rights Activist” and participated in various social justice action during that period. He had the rare privilege of having a play written about his life during his younger years entitled “The Awakening” written by Dr. Alquin Johnson.

He is a veteran of the US Army and has served in two campaigns while actively serving his country. He is a graduate from Delta State University, where he received his Bachelor and Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Program Analyst, Music, Management Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, and Human Resources. He has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy with an emphasis in Business Education. He is also proud graduate of Turner Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center where he received a Master of Divinity and he has been awarded a Doctor of Ministry.
